Ibn Battuta of Fayoum Completes His Journey in 15 European Countries

His last trip in Eurasia lasted 200 days and cost only €300

He never stopped continuing his journeys around the world, and never missed making them a source of inspiration and renewal. That is why Dr. Ahmed Magdy, a medical student from Fayoum University, earned the nickname “Ibn Battuta of the Modern Era.” This time, he completed his journey in Eurasia, which lasted 200 days, during which he visited 15 European countries at a total cost not exceeding 300 euros.

Ahmed, who studies at the Faculty of Medicine, explained that his goal from these trips is not only to explore, but also to learn valuable lessons in life, patience, perseverance, and how to deal with different peoples and cultures. He added that he strives to be a positive role model for young people of his generation.

His journey in Eurasia was full of challenges and hardships. He traveled between countries such as Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, and others, passing through difficult terrain like mountains, valleys, waterfalls, rivers, and ancient castles.

In Italy, Ahmed visited the largest children’s rehabilitation center, while in Switzerland he saw the highest peak “Zugspitze” at an altitude of 2962 meters above sea level, in addition to the largest waterfall in Europe, the Rhine Falls.

Ahmed explained that his trip taught him that happiness does not lie in luxury or expensive places, but in simplicity and coexistence with nature. He pointed out that he spent only €300 for his entire trip through 15 countries, because he relied mainly on walking, hitchhiking, and low-cost accommodation.

He emphasized that he wanted his journey to be an inspiring message to all young people, that achieving dreams does not require huge amounts of money, but rather determination, persistence, and proper planning. He concluded his words saying: “I hope to complete my journeys until I visit every country in the world.”
